Does the client have an obligation to be here?

When creating a new client case, you will see this mysterious field asking Does the client have an obligation from a third party to be here?

The purpose of this field is to make it possible for us to differentiate between clients who have chosen to attend financial mentoring and those who haven't. Those who have not chosen to attend, and who are their to check a box with another agency, are less likely to properly engage with your service.

Historically Work and Income / MSD has required clients to attend financial mentoring sessions as a prerequisite to accessing entitlements. This type of referral is less preferable than clients who have chosen to engage because they almost always disengage as soon as they have the bare minimum required of the referring agency.
